Like most of my family, I grew up a doodler. In grade school, I was really content drawing in the margins of my notebooks. I later graduated to a sketchbook with my ideas. Then, my design teacher, Mrs. Gigax, put some brushes and acrylic paints in my hand for a graded assignment. That was the beginning of a whole new appreciation for the lengths artists go through to get what they want on canvas. When things are going wrong, painting can be a frustrating exercise, but in that moment when you get it right, it's one of the most satisfying things anyone can experience. Only wish I'd started sooner!
