Impressionistic portraiture, figurative, still life, architectural, landscape, and plein air paintings. Transient light and resulting relationships of color are important, but the defining element in my work is brushstroke. I studied art and design in Russia, graduating with a Masters Degree from the the Stroganofskaya Institute in Moscow. Founded in 1825, Stroganofskaya is one of Europe's oldest institutions of art, known for many acclaimed professors and graduates such as Vassily Kandynsky and others. I have exhibited in Russia, Germany and the United States. Living in the U.S., it has been my privilege to paint in beautiful plein air venues along side some of America's finest landscape artists. I live and paint in Southern California but my work is deeply rooted in Russian passion for classical impressionism.
