We roll through life like stones, and the stream captures us.
We toss, turn and erode. Thrown on the bank, we wait for something to happen to us.
These million year-old rocks are my static actors, they stand, lie, frozen in different relations.
Reminding me of people in daily life.
When we gaze at them, they are brought back to life for those seconds.
I experimented with multilayer oil technique which was inspired by Dutch still life./cycle STONE LIFE/
Concluding this, I started working with dry and oil pastels. /cycle LITHOSPHERE, DISTANT RELATIVES/
After creating outdoor sketches, my AQUASTONE cycle was developed.
The newest one is ALTSTADT, which is inspired by the architecture of the city Schwerte.
Currently at the moment I am gaining experience to create the next cycle.
I roll through life like my stones.
Not knowing where I will end up after the next rainstorm, but this journey is my passion.

Kellie Austin 2008-04-21 05:31:52 Your work is beautiful and rich in color. What is "stone life"? Is it a term that you developed? |
