From a psychological point of view and a female perspective, through painting I am able to explore the human condition associated with the various stages of development and self expression. A significant aspect of existing involves a struggle to exert our authentic selves within our over-socialized culture and sometimes very cruel world. Each piece is a story of hope, courage, authenticity, and survival. I expect that my future work will reflect the same striving to self-actualize as I inevitably undergo this process myself. We can all witness this innate compulsion within ourselves and each piece in this latest series acts as a reflection of this determination. I represent a female survivor.
