Abstract
Carlo Romeo was born in Rutland Vermont, where he now resides. He acquired his Bachelors Degree in painting at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH. He currently works with acrylics and focuses on figures and abstraction. Romeo also translates his style into oil pastels and other drawing medium.
In my latest work I have focused on using the female figure for my object matter to explore sexuality. As you can see in my painting Figure I, I try to show feminine beauty in a different way. I did this by abstracting the female form using bright colors. I also use colors to represent emotions on the canvas because emotion is the most important part of my work. With every aggressive brush stroke there is an anger or passion behind it. Every painting expresses an emotion I have felt at one point in time, much like an open diary for anyone to view. When I work with paint I am reminded that I am a living thing with energy, having a need to express myself without hesitation.
