Mixed Media & Collage- Landscapes

The majestic landscapes that capture our hearts and restore our connection to Spirit are disappearing at an alarming rate. Preserving the beauty of that natural environment may only be possible if artists put brush to canvas. This is my primary focus and I choose to capture it with reverence, as it was created, with a realistic approach. I am self-taught and my medium is an ancient one, encaustics, the "burning in" of pigmented beeswax into a chosen canvas. It seems appropriate that the same medium once used to capture images of a declining Egypt now preserve what remains of our modern vanishing world.

My current work embodies both the breathtaking landscapes with which we have long been familiar and the challenges they face. Environmental decline and disappearing farmland, threatened ecosystems and threatened species are all topics I choose to address. The overall effect is one of majestic beauty. I, too, like your "Reflections". It is such a beautiful piece, so peaceful and shows a nicer world than the one we live in today. Keep painting! :)

I didn't really know about the encaustic medium so I looked it up. It's made me appreciate enormously your talent and how you achieve these lovely paintings.

I love encaustic paintings. They have a feeling that seems deep and mysterious. You have incredible detail for encaustics. My friend uses a torch with his to give it a glassy effect. Very beautiful. www.BoydGreeneArt.com
