Art, like writing and poetry, for me is an expression of the soul: the deepest self, where time and place do not matter...I am on a higher plane when creating. There is intense spirit and energy in my hands...I am influenced by color, by thought, and by the natural world around us. I see nature as spiritual and symbolic, and seek to speak the unknown, to convey the unseen. My work is based on intuition, and what feeling I am attuned to at the moment. I feel the world intensely: the natural world which is deeply connected to my inner world. Transcendence on the journey of life is my re-occuring theme.

Spring 2012-04-20 With spring here, I'll be participating in Art Trek Tryon 2012 this year: May 5 and 6 with about 35 area artists. There'll be a corresponding exhibit at the Upstairs Artspace with work from each artist on display: I'll have new sculpture and paintings for the show, and here at my house/studio. Also, I'll be showing work at Art in Bloom: a fund-raising event for the Tryon Fine Art Center. Work from the Theater Art Galleries show has just returned home, and that was a great exhibit! Currently I have "Esto Perpetua" landscapes represented by Patricia Carlisle Fine Art on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and also landscapes shown at Skyuka Fine Art in Tryon, North Carolina.
New Work 2010-10-13 The changing of the seasons finds me doing sculpture pieces, along with small landscape paintings. Currently, I have a large black and white oil painting in an area biennial juried show. You'll see one of that series on my image page. Would you believe I'm considering doing a 4 x 6 painting in that style? The only question now is vertical or horizontal!
Spring Update 2010-04-29 With beautiful spring breezes here, it's time to get the paints outdoors....set up the easel. I'll be gearing up for the summer time Art Trek 2010, featuring area artists in their studios...that's July 24/25. On the local level, I've committed to donating a portion of the proceeds from each "Esto Perpetua" landscape I sell from now on to our Saluda Community Land Trust...seems like a wonderful way for local artist to help worthy local non-profit organization that is environmentally concerned! Grassroots at its best. I presented my first check to the board president at their annual meeting tonight. It feels good! I hope artists everywhere will do something, even small, to make a difference in this world. It matters.
The Cellar Show 2010-04-29 Saluda Wine Cellar April 1
The Cellar at the historic Saluda Inn in Saluda, North Carolina featured Bonnie as guest artist, along with exquisite wine tasting in a beautiful stone cellar reminiscent of cozy French cellars. www.carolinawineexpert.com)
Summer Update 2009-08-31 Time flies! This week, the Art Trek show at Upstairs Artspace is in its final run, so drop by the gallery to visit work from 40 fabulous area artists-including yours truly! I'm working on new pieces, including a black and white oil painting on linen. Stay tuned.
