I grew up in Houston, Texas. As a young child I became aware of artistic talent. At the age of 8 yrs, while at my grandmother's house, I drew a picture of the city of venice in charcoal based on a painting that she had. Of course, my grandmother thought it was pretty good for my age and promptly sent it to the Museum of Fine Arts here in Houston. They replied with an offer of free art lessons at the museum. My first week was filled with just cutting and pasting not drawing or painting. At the time it seemed very boring and I lost interest. In grade school I would draw large murals for plays. Then, as I grew older other things occupied my mind and I drifted away from any pursuit of art. It was not until Christmas 2005 that my daughter, an artist and elementary art teacher, convinced me to try painting. It only took one time and I was hooked. Suddenly, there was a rekindling of this dorment God given talent. As they say, use it or lose it! I have never found anything more relaxing....
