I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and have been a lifelong resident of Ohio. I spent a great deal of time, as a child, with my grandmother. She was the first person to introduce me to paint; she made quilts and encouraged artistic expression. I have experimented with many different mediums and also dabbled in many different areas of the visual arts. I spent many years concentrating on raising my children and making a solid family life and still continue on this journey. During these years I took my time to sharpen my skills in my artwork.
Today artwork is a way of life to me. I am a self-taught artist. I work in acrylic paint because they achieve the vibrant color I am looking for. I like to paint an idealized sense of peace and simpler times. My artwork is not intended to be photo realistic so much as a wishful utopia. My hope is to give the viewer a feeling of happiness, a cherished memory, or a genuine smile.
