I have a B.A. in Fine Art from the University of Southern Indiana. I have also studied art at the University of Evansville, photography at Ivy Tech Community College and faux finishing with Martin Alan Hirsch at the Decorative Finishes Studio in Louisville, KY. I work primarily in oils on canvas and panels from very large to very small. Over the course of 35 years, I have alternated between full abstraction and tightly controlled realism. I am currently experimenting with an approach that splits this difference with representational narrative paintings that can lightly touch upon social commentary or which merely appear symbolic. I also stay fresh by working simultaneously with smaller landscape paintings. I have completed commission murals that are as long as 40 feet. When not painting, I enjoy working out new ideas in Photoshop from photographs that I have accumulated over the years. My digital illustrations tend toward surreal cityscapes or abandoned buildings and automobiles.
