Abstract
--Sculpture for me is process--a fascination with fabricating 3-D things. My works arise initially as small maquettes (models) made of Bristol board. These forms then metamorphose via scissors and tape into final designs that are usually non-representational.
--Sculpture reveals tensions between specified form and its realization. Fabrication demands more than just a description of shape. E.g., choices are made on surface textures and colors; relative proportions are readjusted for changes-of-scale. Each realized work thus deviates from its script of paper templates; improvisation determines what is needed.
--My series employ informal grammars that I explore for sweep and impact. Since works from a series are distinct but related, they often install well as a customized ensemble.
