Abstract
Jakara began painting at the age of 5 under the direction of Cora Bliss Taylor, famed artist whose works are displayed in the Chicago Art Institute. Jakara continued to study with Ms. Taylor until the age of 13 at which time studied in the summers at the Ox Bo Art School in Saugatuck Michigan to the age of 17 and continued her study of art during the school year through art classes, wherein she was sited by her art teachers as most talented as well as attending weekend classes at the Chicago Art Institute until she attended college. Jakara continued her pursuit of art in college studying the history of art as well as art classes on instruction and techniques. Jakara works in acrylic, oils, oil pastels, watercolor and charcoal as well as photography. Over the years the works have evolved and have elements of both the primitive and the modern. Does
