Abstract
I am a New Orleans-born-and-bred artist, raised in both Louisiana, and on the Gulf Coast of Alabama. I currently live in Hawaii, where my husband is stationed as a linguist with the U.S. Army. I am primarily a self-taught artist, and I like it that way. I have been painting in oils and acrylics for over fifteen years.
I paint abstract ornamental and visionary art. Much of my art features designs inspired by various historical and traditional sources, as well as my own personal nostalgia. I am interested in symbols, ornamentation, patterns, and the collective unconscious.
As a painter I am as much a Destroyer as I am a Creator. During the process of creation there is a great deal of breaking down and destroying, rebuilding and recreating that is essential to the finished product. For me, creating art is an attempt to bring a glimpse of beauty and harmony into a world full of chaos and disorder. I only want to add something beautiful to this world.
