Abstract
Art has been my love and passion for as long as I can remember. I always favored images with profoundly bright colors and movement. Such appreciation for the beauty that life has to give has made my life worth continuing though I am to live such a life with countless limitations.
My name is Carol Freitas; I am a disabled, Hispanic woman who enjoys painting and writing poetry. I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and lived there for seven years. As my medical needs grew more complicated, my family had to move to Massachusetts in order from me to receive adequate medical services. I was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy II/III. This disease is best described as a slow weakening progression of muscle tissue; similar to MS or MD.
My father is an artist and my mother a seamstress. My sisters and I learned early in life to see things in an artistic and creative way. One of my sisters is a painter and the other a hair stylist. Each of us use different and unique techniques to express our love...
