My current series “Urban Beauties” is inspired by the wide variety of colorful personalities that inhabit the urban environment. It is a whimsical look at how urban dwellers are more prone to vivid self-expression and how our imaginative use of the human canvas creates a distinctive beauty that distinguishes us from our suburban and rural cousins.

For this series I create light-hearted portraits that exaggerate the far out, funky and fun characters I see in urban culture by drawing upon various colorful elements of the people I see around the city and then returning to my studio to create my own unconventional oil on canvas characters.
